The weather was, at times, rather unpleasant. Parkes had an unexpected victory at Forbes in the Mick Miller Shield over arch rivals Forbes, 163 points to 148. Mick Bond (Pks) took out the individual event om 29 points on a count back from new comer, Nym Dzucak (Pks). Well done Nym.
Steve Everest, (Fbs) was awarded the encouragement trophy. Nearest the pin winners were Mick Bond, ken Sanderson and Koe Davies.
This week we play at Parkes and all players are reminded that with the advent of daylight saving all games at Parkes commence at 10am.
The following week we travel to Condobolin for the continuation of the Lachlan Valley 18 Holes Competition. The bus will leave the Club House at 8am.

Men's Bowls
In social play on Thursday, October 3, the following results were recorded:
In a game of triples in his first game after arriving back in Parkes from State Gary McPhee; Bob Freeman and Col Hayward 22 prevailed in a game of triples over Greg Howlett; Ted Wright and Bernie Mitchell 16 Team Howlett started catching up in the last 5 ends but had given away too much of a lead to team McPhee in the first 15 ends.
In pairs Arthur Corbett and Mal Porter had a close one just scraping through 21-20 against Ian Simpson and John Watson. Simmo and John started off strong but fell away towards the end.
Gordon Dickson and John Wright had a game where they were never in doubt with a convincing win over Presidents Fours State finalist Rob Irving and his lead Trevor Harvey.
And another Presidents Fours State finalist Col Mudie with lead Jim Blake came close in their game against Warren Bevan and Les Kent but were defeated 22-20; and in the final rink of the day Bruce Deland and the ever reliable John Ward ran out convincing winners over Steve Ryan and his grandson Nicholas was playing his first game of bowls.
On Saturday no championship games were played but there were 5 games of social bowls;
In triples Jim Blake, Col Woods and Col Mudie battled away against John Ward' Bob Freeman and Joe Davies to eventually win 20-14
In pairs John Wright and Ray Jones had a convincing win against Greg Huggins and Rob Irving 30-18. Ron Hornery and Geoff Freeman had a tight come from behind tussle to come out winners against Tom Furey and Rob Tinker.
Colin Miller in one of his first games after being on holidays teamed up well with an in form Rhona Went to defeat Martin Tighe and Gary McPhee 17-14. Colin and Rhona were always in control but Gary and Martin made the loss look respectable in the final two ends.
And on rink 6 Gordon Dickson and Baldy Frame battled it out when confronted with the pair of John Carr and Col Hayward to eventually prevail with a 21-18 win.
All players are reminded that players interested in playing pennants next year must have their names on the board at the club NO LATER than 28th October and also some championship games are running over time. Could you please arrange with you partners to play them ASAP.
Bogan Gate golf
Cold and blustery weather did not deter a good field of golfers playing in the annual tournament. The continuing drought had affected the course preparation but the visitors enjoyed playing the sand green course and the country hospitality afterwards.

Top Flights defeated Twist Tops 6-1 with players player going to Rhonda Rogan for Top Flights and Scott Jacka for Twist Tops. High scores were Mick Herft 140, 121, 100. Dave Rogan 125, 2x 100. Keith Rogan 3x 100. Scott Jacka 138, 115. Rog Clegg 125. Paul Roberts 100.
Pluggas defeated Strikers 4-3 with players player going to Leah Roberts for Pluggas and Kathy Madden for Strikers. High scores were Michael Dunn 121. Darrell Bailey 119, 111, 100. Gary Barber 118, 100.

Ladies' Golf
Wednesday we played an 18 hole stableford for the Body Express Trophy with a field of 14 players. Winner on the day was Helen Clark with 36 points.
Vouchers went to Barb Donnelly also on 36 points on a count back from Helen, then Denise Charlton on 35 points on a count back to Lorrainne Maxwell on 35 points and Jenny Hoy on 31 points.
NTP's on the 1st went to Jenny Hoy, the 4th Lorrainne Maxwell, the 6th Leonie Thompson, the 11th Barb Donnelly and the 15th Col Flynn, who all received vouchers.
The Lone Pine Contracting Award went to Cath Kelly.
Saturday we played a Stableford event with partner for the C Flynn and Dale Matthews Trophy.
Winners on the day were Lorrainne Maxwell & Adrianne Brown with combined score of 72 on a count back to Kaye Jones and Frankie Cock who receive a voucher.
Next voucher winners were Col Staples and Ann Berkeley.
Individual winner was Lorrainne Maxwell with 37 points on a count back to Frankie Cock also on 37 points.
NTP's on the 1st was Frankie Cock, the 4th Frankie Cock, the 6th Dale Matthews, the 11th Adrianne Brown and the 15th Lorrainne Maxwell.
The Flynny Award went to Cath Kelly.
Don't forget our championships start on Wednesday the 9th then Saturday the 12th then Wednesday the 16th and final round on the 19th.
