Construction on the dog park - which will be located on the corner of Coleman Street and Thomas Street, on the western end of Kelly Reserve - began on July 15, with the triangular-shaped area cordoned off and some land grading taking place.
The project is expected to be completed by Friday, August 30, weather permitting.
The dog park forms part of the Kelly Reserve Masterplan and includes a dog run area; separate fenced-off agility section that includes hurdles, a tunnel and bridge; and multiple entry gates.
There are also plans the $90,000 project will feature water filling stations and seating.
Last checking in on the progress of the construction on Monday morning, workers had begun erecting the fencing.
The project was identified as a priority during community consultation and following a number of years of residents pushing for a dog park. It was tabled in council's 2019-2020 budget at its April monthly meeting.
A draft of the Kelly Reserve Masterplan is available on Parkes Shire Council's website and features a proposed fishing zone, adventure playground, extension to the existing playground, history trail, looped footpath and a community garden.
