It's the second year in a row Kirsten Serviced Accommodation has made an appearance at the awards, again joining Parkes Elvis Festival organisers among the award recipients.
Kirsten Serviced Accommodation - which offers luxury hotel style serviced accommodation in several locations in both Parkes and Mudgee - went one better in 2019, winning the Gold Award in the Self-Contained Accommodation category for the combined Country & Outback and Riverina Murray region.
Last year owners Kirsten and Peter Veleski had walked away with silver in the same category, earning themselves a spot as finalists in the NSW Tourism Awards.
Not a bad feat for a business that's only been in operation for just over two years.
The 2019 Regional Tourism Awards were held during a gala celebration at Taronga Western Plains Zoo in Dubbo on Saturday night, which also saw the Parkes Elvis Festival inducted into the Hall of Fame following three consecutive wins in the Festivals and Events category.
Festival director Cathy Treasure and festival founders Bob and Anne were there to accept the award.
"It was exciting to see two Parkes organisations being presented with awards," Kirsten said.
Kirsten said their Gold Award was a big achievement for the business.
The Self-Contained Accommodation category recognises tourism excellence in accommodation providing guests with the freedom of self-sufficiency.
Kirsten accepted the award from Destination Country and Outback chair Clyde Thompson AM GM, where she thanked her staff and reminded the tourism industry to always book your accommodation directly.
"Keep the tourism dollar in our local regions by phoning the accommodation direct or booking via the accommodation's direct website," she said.
Kirsten said the local business is currently building brand new one, two and three bedroom apartments to complete their 'Clarinda Street Apartments Parkes' complex.
She plans to officially open them in September this year.
"They are located in Clarinda Street in Parkes CBD and they ensure the guest is within walking distance from shops, Cooke Park, pubs and cafes," Kirsten said.
"Kirsten Serviced Accommodation also owns and operates self-contained homes and serviced apartments in Mudgee."
