From May 20 to 26 May, thousands of events will be held across the country to say thank you to the six million Australians who volunteer their time. The week-long celebration will include breakfasts, morning and afternoon teas, luncheons, and forums, along with open days, award ceremonies and training sessions.
Wilcannia Forbes Central Council of the St Vincent de Paul Society said they were proud to acknowledge the invaluable contribution their wonderful volunteers make in the delivery of services to their respective communities.
National Volunteer Week is the largest celebration of volunteers and volunteerism in Australia, and allows the Society to join with other volunteer organisations to say 'thank you', for their tireless efforts that don't go unnoticed and without their contributions the Society simply wouldn't exist.

With busy lives it can be hard to find time to volunteer, however the benefits of volunteering are enormous to you and your community. Volunteering is one of the best ways to make new friends, build relationships and learn new skills. It can also provide a sense of purpose to people who are lonely or isolated and can increase self-confidence.
St Vincent de Paul Society is calling for residents of Parkes, Peak Hill and Trundle to volunteer with them. People of all ages and denominations are welcome and encouraged to join, with even a couple of hours a week providing amazing assistance.
