- Parkes Elvis Festival
The Parkes Elvis Festival is one of the largest events in regional NSW and as such takes a massive amount of organisation, planning, work hours, communication and skill to get off the ground each year. As such the Parkes Elvis Festival said they would like to extend a warm and sincere thanks to all of this years valued volunteers who assisted in making sure visitors to the festival left feeling happy and "all shook up". Central West Credit Union proudly sponsored the 130 volunteers who assisted with event delivery across a range of different festival activities. Volunteers coordinated events, provided visitor information, helped visitors and artists find their way and assisted with the set up and pack down of venues. The 2020 Parkes Elvis Festival is already seeking volunteers to help to deliver more successful events next year.

Becoming a volunteer can be a very rewarding experience.
- Cathy Treasure, Parkes Elvis Festival Director
Festival Director, Cathy Treasure, said there were so many different ways that volunteers could contribute, plus you get to work alongside other fantastic volunteers. "Becoming a volunteer can be a very rewarding experience," she said. "Volunteering is a great way to give something back to your community and to a festival that brings so much benefit to our region". To join the Parkes Elvis Festival family in 2020 and help celebrate the classic Elvis film, "Frankie and Johnny", you can register your interest by contacting the team on 02 6862 6000 or emailing elvis@parkes.nsw.gov.au.
- Meals on Wheels
For over five decades Meals On Wheels in Parkes have been delivering nutritious meals, a welcoming smile and a friendly chat to residents across the region, and it's not hard to see why they won "The Henrys - Parkes Business Awards Excellence in Social Enterprise", two years in a row. Volunteering for Meals on Wheels can be an incredibly satisfying experience and the team at Parkes would like to thank all of their volunteers at the Parkes Shire Food Service - Meals on Wheels, for their amazing efforts.

Their volunteers have been delivering hot and frozen meals to the aged people with disabilities and their carers throughout the Parkes shire. Customers include younger people, and older members of the community who may have been teachers, nurses, tradies, bankers, or CEO's. Just as there is no typical Meals on Wheels customer, there is also no typical volunteer. If you would like information about becoming a volunteer, you can contact Gillian on 02 6862 6189.
