Federal Member for the Riverina and Deputy Prime Minister Michael McCormack is encouraging residents in the Central West to identify mobile phone black spots in their area.

The Federal Government has re-opened the Mobile Black Spot Program’s Database of Reported Black Spot Locations for new nominations.
Mr McCormack said now is the time for residents to pinpoint locations in their area to help inform the rollout of the fourth round of the government’s $220 million Mobile Black Spot Program.
“The Liberal and Nationals’ Government is delivering mobile phone coverage to 867 locations across Australia through the Mobile Black Spot Program, including 20 in the Riverina and Central West,” he said.
“Just [recently] a tower has been activated west of Temora.
“This is a fantastic opportunity for local communities to have their voices heard on any problematic mobile black spots and to encourage mobile network operators to invest in our region through the program.”
Mr McCormack said the database would be open until Thursday, October 11.
Residents who want to add a location to the database should contact one of Mr McCormack’s offices in Parkes (6862 4560) or Wagga Wagga (6921 4600).
Alternatively, people can send an email to michael.mccormack.mp@aph.gov.au.
“Round four of the program will look to provide new or improved mobile coverage in areas where there are clear economic and social benefits and will target medical, educational and emergency services facilities,” Mr McCormack said.
“This round will also focus on key transport routes.”
The Federal Government will invest $25 million to deliver round four of the program and will soon call for applications from carriers to be selected through a competitive process.
