As the match began Dubbo were straight into action and within a few minutes they had scored a couple of goals. Parkes responded and changed the game plan in order to put more pressure on Dubbo. With the Pantherettes defenders being pounded by Dubbo with their inside forward 50 entries, they weathered the first quarter storm. A return from Amy Roseby strengthened the backline as she was able to provide numerous leads and get the ball out of the defensive 50.
After quarter time the Panthers regrouped with a positive attitude, with a main aim of trying to stop the Demons from entering the forward 50 with ease. Midfielder Kimberley Dixon put those words into force, as she snapped up a collection of handballs in tight situations, as well as regaining control of the possessions for the Panthers. Defence tightened as Dubbo scored three goals and one behind for that quarter.
Yet again Parkes defenders were under the pump with the ball constantly coming in as the third quarter began. Key players Ashley Rosser and Renee Massurit combined to try and restrict the Dubbo forwards, by laying a mass amount of tackles, lots of communication to one another and marking their players at all times. Parkes kept Dubbo to five goals and two behinds.
As the final quarter started the Panthers tried a few different approaches in the centre, trying to contain the quick Dubbo midfielders and maintain possession of the ball. Hallee Pauley-Lestrange was quite impressive when she had the ball, producing a lot of run and carry in the middle of the ground, as she took Dubbo for a ride with daring bounces throughout the centre square. Midfielders were covering a lot of ground, with Felicity Ralph and Ally Hetherington run ragged in their attempts to keep the ball from the defensive 50. Korine Coleman was awarded players' player for the match, for her massive efforts as full back.
Unfortunately Dubbo held the Pantherettes scoreless and they managed to add four goals and five behinds to their total. Coach Ralph commented "The girls skills are really improving, if they keep putting in the effort at training they will only get better”. The opposition remarked that the team “deserved plenty of credit for never dropping their heads”.
Dubbo 17.13-115 defeated Parkes 0.0-0.
