.id Solutions are holding a free Census Briefing workshop at Parkes Shire Council this Wednesday, May 23, between 5.30pm and 7pm, to give interested community members practical insights and skills on how to take advantage of the latest Census data.
Parkes Shire Council Mayor, Cr Ken Keith OAM said the Parkes Shire has changed significantly in the past five years.
“It’s important that we are able to interpret this valuable data to enable us to make informed decisions when planning for the future,” he said.
.id Solutions will combine an in-depth knowledge of people and places with interactive web applications to help organisations and businesses meet the changing needs of their communities.
There are a number of free online tools, via the .id Solutions portal, that are designed to make population and economic data for Parkes Shire easy to access, interpret and use.
They offer valuable data for business plans, reports, academic papers, or simply an interesting place for anyone who is curious about the changing nature of our community.
The Census Briefing workshop will explore the following demographic resources:
Community Profile
Access Census data for topics including population age, ethnicity, education, disability, employment, unpaid work, income, household type, structure and more. See point-in-time data going back six Census periods (1991 to 2016), or see how the population has changed using the change-over-time tables.
Social Atlas
Complementing the community profile, the social atlas presents population data in an interactive map. Visualise the distribution of your population based on diversity, income, education, housing, age and many other ‘maps’ relevant to the Parkes Shire region.
Population Forecast
Developed in consultation with the Parkes Shire, these forecasts combine an analysis of local and regional demographic trends with data for known or planned residential development to deliver population and dwelling forecasts out to 2037.
Economic Profile
The economic profile has both top-line economic indicators for Parkes Shire (gross regional product, employment, industry and market data and more), and tools to analyse and evaluate opportunities in the local economy, including the impact of investment and events.
