A 52-year-old Parkes woman has been charged with assault and a personal violence order put in place after she allegedly attempted to run down two children on Wednesday evening.

Police were called to the rear yard of a Clarinda Street business at 6.15pm.
The victim claims she was standing in the yard with her children when the woman drove a white VW Transporter van into the driveway at speed and attempted to run the children down with the van.
Police arrested the driver at the scene and took her to Parkes Police Station where she was interviewed and charged.

A 60-year-old Parkes man has been arrested and charged with a number of historic child sex offences.
He has been charged with one count of attempt intercourse with a person under 10 and three counts of indecent assault victim under 10.
The offences are alleged to have occured in 2002 and 2003.
The man was granted conditional bail and will appear in Parkes Local Court on Monday, March 5.

Police allege the driver of the vehicle did burnouts on the track at 1.50pm.
The damage is estimated at $500.
