May I wish you all a peaceful and enjoyable 2018!
The Men’s Shed closed for two weeks over the Christmas / New Year period this time.
This was a bit longer than usual, but members seemed happy for the break.
Right now Men’s Shed members are back into being productive and enjoying one another’s company again.
A number of members are working on restoration projects, including a large model aircraft for the Aviation Museum.
Members of the Parkes community are generally well pleased with our efforts at basic restoration jobs.
I’m back into my pyrography (wood burning) again.
This time I’m having a go at scenes of Australia’s past.
Ned Kelly, Life Savers wearing the neck to knee bathers and using the old reels, and an Aboriginal person from the early days of white settlement.
All exciting and challenging stuff, but in the Aussie tradition I’ll “give it a go”!
Don’t forget, new members are always welcome to join the Parkes Men’s Shed, for the small annual fee of $15.
Come and check us out anytime.
The Men’s Shed is open, Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 8.30am until 12pm.
The Men’s Shed is located at the Parkes Showground, straight up from the Victoria Street gates and next to the Caretaker’s residence.
We would welcome anybody with some skills and knowledge of wood, metal or leather work to come and give interested members some basic lessons.
Please feel free to call me, Tony Vickers, Shed Publicity Officer, on 0428 350 60 for more information.
Looking forward to seeing you up at the Shed.
