Dunn on fire in round two of junior comp

Just a reminder to please check the times on your draws. It’s okay if children arrive early, but if they arrive late they may have to forfeit their match.

Any matches to be rescheduled must be played before the end of May please.

Federers: Faith Clarke is almost ready to a promotion onto the Green court. Last week she showed why, when she played Sam Riley and didn’t let hin win a single game in the seven played.

Caylan Neilsen and Mitch Wirth played a close match with Caylan just making a few more serves into play and scoring a 3/1 win.

Nadals: Josh Riley and Ruby Wilson are two youngsters working hard to improve their tennis and they had an even match finishing in a 3 all draw while Max Coote served well to defeat Bill Mahon 3/1.

Aces: Tim Nyugen and Jordan Richardson played a 2 all draw after a lot of long rallies in their match while Nia Boggs was too consistent for Nick Gascoigne scoring a 4/2 win.

Ethan Hunt finished off his busy afternoon of tennis with a 5/3 win over Charlie Mahon.

Smashes: Kendra Dunn was on fire when she hit some beaut shots to out play Simon Hogan 4/1 while Harry Simpson is too clever for his own self sometimes and has to control all his good hitting. He was too solid for Marcus Moss who is improving each week.

Thomas Simpson is on the rise and he had another good win last week when he defeated Xander MacGregor 4/1.

Singles and Doubles: The new combination of Kayla Swetland and Tess Woods opened their junior comp campaign last week with a hard fought 3 set win over Monique Morgan and Talesha Ellis. All the girls seem to be having a fun time and enjoying their tennis.

Joseph Tanswell subbed for Ellen Dolbel last week and joined Zoe Anderson to take on Ethan Hunt who subbed for Gabe Goodrick and Jack Rice. Sadly Jack read his draw incorrectly and came half an hour late for their match and had to forfeit the doubles handing Joseph and Zoe a 2 sets to 1 win.

Molly Kennedy was fresh from her week at PSSA tennis and had an upset 6/5 win over Jayden Wirth. Koby Wirth kept his team in the battle though when he defeated Lily McCormick 6/2 but it was the girls who proved their doubles prowess on this occasion taking the set 6/3 and the overall win.

FORBES JDS: The Forbes JDS is on this Sunday and all Northparkes junior squad members are expected to enter. There is only Forbes and Mudgee for this term so a good opportunity when so close.

ANZHOTSHOTS: This week the Hotshots kids are learning to rally independently where possible. The drop’n’hit serve and understanding racquet control and depth perception is quite a challenge for some 5-8 year olds but they are all keen participants.

The Orange and Green ball players are working on their rallying skills in closed situations and trying to improve their technique. The courts are free to use on Friday afternoons from 3pm-dark for all juniors and their families to practise so this is a wonderful opportunity to get outside and get active on these beautiful afternoons.

USA JUNIOR TOUR UPDATE: This Friday the USA Junior Tour support team will be selling raffle tickets at Woolworths from 9am-1pm. There are five very good prizes. The raffle will be drawn June 1.

If you can’t make it down to Woolworths, tickets are available at the tennis club every afternoon between 2.30-8pm and Saturdays between 8am-5pm.
