Servicemen and women were remembered when the community attended the dawn service, followed by placing poppies on the graves of servicemen and finally a service in Memorial Park at 11am.
Tullamore Central School was represented by many students. Addresses were given by the school’s captain Dominic Lopez and junior captains, Lisa Edwards and Geoffrey McLean.
Although the number of returned servicemen and women is declining, the service was attended by men who served in World War II, Korea and more recent conflicts in the Middle East and Afghanistan.
The school thanked its students and staff for marching, especially considering the wet weather.
“Our captains Dominic, Jeffrey and Lisa deserve special mention for their speeches, well done,” principal Peter Nichols said.
The community joined together for Anzac biscuits, tea and coffee after the service.
