There are quite a few players who have been promoted from Orange court to the full green court this term so they will have a nice challenge ahead.
Round 1 Results
Aces Division:
Ethan Hunt has been seen practising at the tennis centre and is super enthusiastic with his tennis right now.
It showed in his match against Nia Boggs who is a very consistent player.
Ethan managed to out rally Nia to score a close 4/3 win.
Nick Gascoigne proved he is a contender in the Aces division when he scored a surprising 5/2 win over Brooke Pinkstone.
Brooke looked a little rusty from the holiday break so no doubt will be back in form for tomorrow's round.
Tim Nyugen and Charlie Mahon had a good match with some nice long rallies.
It was Tim who just got the edge this time 3/2 on the whistle.
Smashes Division:
Xander MacGregor and Gemmah Neilsen both had a pretty good start to comp and will be looking to improve their serves this term.
Xander scored a close 3/2 win.
Thomas Simpson did very well in his match with Simon Hogan.
Thomas is making huge improvements and will benefit from more matches this term. Thomas was the victor 3/2.
Harry Simpson thought he was very clever last week when he scored a convincing 6/2 win over Kendra Dunn.
Kendra hadn’t picked up a racquet for almost a month whereas Harry had a practise session before comp so a big advantage.
Orange Federers:
Ella McColl got off to a flyer last week and her holiday practises shone through.
She scored a 7/1 win over Mitch Wirth who was a bit rusty from the holiday break and no practise.
Good friends Tia Dunn and Faith Clarke always have a good match and last week was no different when they couldn’t be split.
They finished with a 3 all draw.
Sam Riley and Caylan Neilsen played lots of points but only managed to get 2 games finished which Sam won both.
Well done to Sam for making some serves into play and Caylan will improve each week.
Orange Nadals:
Meg Mahon was happy with her first up win over Max Coote by just one game while brother Bill didn’t fair so well as he took on Josh Riley. Josh played some super shots to score a 4/1 win.
Ruby Wilson and Lucy Hall both played some nice shots in their friendly match which finished 2 all.
Singles and Doubles Division:
Jayden and Koby Wirth proved too experienced for new pairing Ethan Hunt and Georgie Coote last week.
Jayden and Koby showed beaut sportsmanship and encouraged their younger opponents during the 3 matches which all went Jayden and Koby's way quite comfortably.
Gabe Goodrick and Jack Rice, although winning all 3 sets against Monique Morgan and Talesha Ellis, didn’t have things their own way.
The doubles was a cracker which went to a tie-breaker and then Jack and Talesha played for almost an hour with long rallies and both players working hard to win points.
Jack eventually got the win in a tiebreaker with Gabe showing his class in the singles against Monique with a 6/12 scoreline.
CHS Knockout
Well done to Parkes High open boys and open girls teams who blitzed Forbes High on Thursday.
The boys team led by Jake Magill and Ben Evans and including Lachie Tassell and Harry Dawson cruised to an 8 sets to 0 victory losing just a few games but were outdone on the day by the powerful girls team of Yasmin Potts, Hannah Potts, Phoebe Potts and Holly McColl who played all 8 sets without dropping a single game.
Nice concentration and focus from the girls.
The girls will take on Lithgow at home while the boys will have to travel to Mudgee in the next week or so.
Bathurst Junior Tour
Hannah and Phoebe Potts along with Holly McColl, Ben Evans, Abbey Kennedy, Molly Kennedy and Jake Magill all travelled to Bathurst on the weekend for their Gold Junior Tour event.
There were almost 500 entries and matches were hotly contested over the 3 days.
Hannah made the quarters of the 16s consolation and, with sister Phoebe, made the semis of the 16s doubles.
Abbey didn’t receive any favours with the draws having to play the 5th seed in the opening round and then the 12th seed in the first round of the consolation thus ending her singles campaign.
Molly Kennedy only played doubles and did well against some tough opponents.
Ben Evans also had two very tough singles matches against highly ranked opponents.
Holly McColl lost her opening main draw round and then had a brilliant run in the consolation winning her next three matches to advance to the semi finals.
Holly was to play the semi final yesterday.
Jake Magill made the round of 16 in the Open Mens singles and was to play the semi finals in the 16 and under boys singles yesterday.
He and partner Jimmy Fu from Canberra won through to the quarter finals of the Open Mens doubles and had a very late match Sunday night in which they went down in two tight sets.
Senior Tennis
A beautiful Autumn evening produced spirited tennis on all courts for the first round of the new competition.
Mixed Lollies team got off to a flyer with Matt Burkitt and Alison Dowton in fine early season form showing their consistent styles.
Line 1 Paul Dunford may have to put in a couple of extra mid week practise sessions to find his past form.
No doubt a couple of weeks in and Paul’s lefty game will return to the fore.
It was a convincing 5 sets to 1 win over Bandana Bandits.
Great to have Crumbling Biscuits and Lucky Strings players back to comp tennis.
Aaron Arnott, Jonty Ralph and Corey Rowbotham enjoy their tennis and no doubt had a few sore muscles the following day after a hard fought 1 game win over Nic Ryan, Max Keith and Luke Dunn.
The latter trio were all competent juniors and will no doubt cause a few upsets during the comp as they find their rhythm on court.
The Questionable look to be the firm favourites on paper and they certainly lived up to that last week when they tested the consistency of Teen-Aces youngsters.
Julian Fyfe, Christian Martin and Jaco Barnard out smarted and out played Hannah and Phoebe Potts and Holly McColl 5 sets to 1.
Hannah was most pleased with her tough 6/4 win in her singles to give Teen-Aces an extra point.
Hip’n’Happenin players Matt King, Georgia Sideris and Birdee Sideris returned to the court and thoroughly enjoyed their evening of matches.
They played Top Shelf and with Michael Green heading Abbey Kennedy and Maddy McCormick this pair will have a super mentor to help them develop their doubles.
Top Shelf won all six sets but watch out for Hip’n’Happenin as theres plenty of talent there waiting to blossom.
Smash Hits and DawTV played a very competitive match on the front courts last week and great to have evergreen Mark Ritchie back into the comp.
His tennis guile and skill will show up many a younger opponent this comp and he will support Joe Doyle and Ange Bottaro-Porter.
DawTV players Ben Evans, Lachy Tassell and Harry Dawson combined well to score a close 4 sets to 2 win.
