As a child, Leah O’Rourke just loved her music - studying piano from age seven, playing percussion in the school band and singing in choirs.

However, it was the harp that fascinated her the most and the instrument she always wanted to play.
“I prayed every Christmas and birthday for a harp, it was on my wish-list throughout my school years,” Leah said.
Her wish finally came true at age 20 after completing her Bachelor of Music at Adelaide Uni where she majored in composition and pianoforte.
“I was on a youth camp in Tasmania and enjoying listening to a harpist playing in the Salamanca markets.
“I silently prayed to God - ‘I so want to play the harp for you.’
“Three days later I arrived home and there was a golden folk harp in my bedroom, a gift from my mum and aunty which my music teacher had helped them find for me.”
Today, the mother of seven is at Mamre Farm with husband Glenn of Vision Ministries who is studying his MBA (Master Business Administration).
Whilst here, Leah wants everyone to know she is happy to perform, teach and conduct musical workshops featuring of course the magnificent harp sounds.
“For a small fee, I’m more than willing to visit schools, community groups, charitable organisations or any of the local churches to perform and demonstrate the functions and history of the harp,” Leah said.
“I have a Graduate Diploma in Education and am qualified to teach music in schools.
“I’m also more than happy to get involved in the local Musical and Dramatic Society, and visit hospitals and the elderly.
“However, it is at a wedding where the harp can add that special touch to the ceremony and also later at the reception.

After completing her Uni degree, Leah and her harp travelled throughout Europe, playing at festivals, busking and performing in cafes and pubs.
“While I was in Edinburgh I was photographed busking. The next day I discovered my photo on the front page of the newspaper!
“An Aussie playing harp to both the homeless and the wealthy on the Royal Mile was considered something different and unique.”
It was on her return to Australia that she met and married Glenn who she describes as the love of her life.
“Glenn has a background in film, television, media, IT, sound, lighting, business marketing and finance,” Leah said.
“But most importantly he possesses a real heart for community.
“In Sydney I played Harp at events during the Sydney Olympic Games and we were Directors of ACE (Australian College of Entertainment) for the performing arts that included dance, singing, acting, music and casting.
“During this time we saved up for my Pedal Harp which came out from Camac in France.”
At Alectown, Glenn is supporting Bishop Harry Westcott with Vision Ministries at Mamre Farm while undertaking studies.
Leah helps with the children’s ministry and worship.
The next event they will be involved in is the ‘Prayer Walk and Retreat Weekend’ at Mamre Farm during the weekend of July 29-31.
“Otherwise I’m kept busy with the children and spend whatever time possible practising, performing, ministering, teaching music and raising money for charity,” she said
Recently Leah recorded “Harp for Hope” a 20-minute live Harp music album of popular songs played on her Concert Pedal Harp - an album that is perfect for relaxation, baby sleep time and for soothing troubled minds.
