Trudy and Bill Bylhouwer were married on August 18, 1954, not long after they had arrived in Australia having migrated from Holland.
They originally established themselves in Wallerawang and their five children were born in Lithgow.
Trudy and Bill and their five children moved to Parkes in 1965, and Trudy and Bill have continued to live here since that time.
Their children attended the local Catholic schools in Parkes and Forbes as well as Parkes High School.
Although all of their children have since completed school and left Parkes, Trudy and Bill have remained committed to the town where they continue to enjoy a very quiet and relaxed lifestyle.
Most of Parkes' residents will have at some stage in their lives met Trudy and Bill when they were the proprietors of Parkes Cellars, and through their very long standing and active involvement in the local Catholic Church.
Trudy and Bill's children, some of their partners as well as four of the 10 grandchildren travelled to Parkes for the formal celebration of the 60th wedding milestone.
The celebration was held at Kadina Bed & Breakfast with a sumptuous lunch where Helen and Malcolm Westcott catered for the extended Bylhouwer family in their home, providing a feast of fresh home cooked dishes.
A large sponge cake was baked by Parkes baker Bruce Lindbeck and was decorated by Helen Westcott.
As a gift to Trudy and Bill, their children organised local photographers Sylvie Maloney and Narda Russell of Chemical Creations Photography to take multiple family photographs.
Trudy and Bill thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon's celebrations, the wonderful family reunion, and the superb food and relaxed atmosphere at Kadina Bed & Breakfast.
They also loved every moment of the speech made by their daughter Marietta who spoke about their achievement of 60 years of marriage, a commitment of which she said they should be proud, and which, few manage to achieve in life.
