Many others who have served for decades have retired in recent years.
One of them, Neville Campisi said it was hard to keep in touch with all of them after the special bond they had shared for many years, so last year organised a special reunion for all of the long time staff members.
It proved so successful that the reunion is now held every year - always on the Saturday before Easter.
This year was the second reunion, and again proved a big hit.
‘We just ask everyone to bring their own food and drink, and we get together for a yarn and to reminisce. It’s very simple, but everyone seems to enjoy it,’ Neville said.
‘Many of the staff go back to the days when it was also known as Grain Elevators Board and Grain Handling Authority.’
Husbands and wives attend, with more than 40 present this year.
‘It’s a chance for us to get together, and keep in touch. We don’t see people much over the year, and this ensures we do so at least once a year,’ Neville said.
