On the weekend, the Parkes Golf Club (PGC) would have typically been celebrating its Parkes Open tournament, but unfortunately due to COVID-19 we didn't play the event this year.

Instead, they played a 4BBB event on the Saturday and then on the Sunday had an 18 hole stroke event colloquially called the 'Old Course Classic' to celebrate the end of an era as the course readies itself for an upgrade.
On Saturday we had 117 starters, and the day was split between those who got drenched and those who escaped the 9mm of rain the course received - but it didn't seem to slow the scoring down at all.
Jake O'Brien and his ProKonnect sponsored the day, and our thanks go out to him.
Anthony Lock, having one of his rare games, teamed up with the impressive Jack Creith to take out the teams event with a good score of 46 points.
They were chased in by Mark Wright and Rod Kiley on 45 points, and it was good to see the boys at last find some form, but they had to survive a countback to get the prize.
Andrew Bourke, who was having one of his first competition games, had a scintillating 46 points in the individual event.
It was a great win, but the handicap took a good slice afterward!
The runner up was Aaron Wilkie back on 41 points, who shot his best score for a while with a 1 under of 70.
Other notable players to have a good day were: Gordon Christie, was four strokes under handicap; Michael Dellaca; Ron Hetherington, who shot an 80 and Michael Thomas - who is really starting to be noticed at each outing.

The holes had been reset thanks to volunteers Lindsay and Ron, and everything was in readiness for the event.
The sponsors for the day were Archewll Constructions, Drag & Drives and Riall Harrison Building Services, so there was plenty of prizes on offer.
92 players backed up to take part in the day, with the fact the club was playing in teams of four - which increased the social aspect of the game.
In Division 1, Jack Elliott continued to show the way over his single figure compatriots, with a 2 over par 73 to take out the prize from Rob Hey on 75.
Aaron Wilkie also recorded a 75 to reinforce his consistency, with the smokey David Stevenson hitting a 76.
Jake O'Brien shot an 84 - so he may need some fine tuning!
In Division 2, Jarrod Kemp snuck in to take out the award with a 91 off the stick beating Brendon Simpson also on that score, with Gordon Christie lurking just behind with a 92.
In the Division 1 nett event, David Stevenson carded a scintillating 66 to easily take out the award.
There was some suggestion he didn't want to give away the sponsors prize so he concentrated extra hard, but either way it was his best round for some time!
Duncan Constable, making a welcome return to the game, came in with a 69 and won the prize on a countback from Jack Elliott, Rob Hey and Ian Phipps.
In the Division 2 nett, Simon Hogan swooped in to take the prize with a good score of 69 to beat Brendan Smith back on 71 points.
Simon has been back playing consistently for the last month or so meaning the rhythm and timing are starting to kick in.
He's looking like being the gun from the Hogan family now!
15 female golfers were in attendance, with Anita Medcalf hitting a solid 86 off the stick to take out the scratch event with Kaye Jones coming in second with a 91 to take the prize off Dale Matthews.
In the nett event, it was again the other half of the dynamic duo Leone Stevenson picking up the prize with a 69 nett beating home Sue Holman with a 71 nett.
