Bill has been a long-time supporter of Parkes Golf Club and we appreciate the association.
Among those who undertook the competition were 10 brave Parkes Golf Club golfing members defying the terrible conditions participating in the Cancer Council's Longest Day where the players attempt to play 72 holes of golf in one day.
The players started at 5.45am and finished at 7.30pm, while walking about 25-28 kilometres and hitting anywhere from 290 to over 400 shots during the day, dependent on skill.
With great support from family, friends and other golfers the group consisting of Jarrod Kemp, David Stevenson, Jack Elliott, Michael Thomas, Peter Magill, Cameron Standen, Alec Edwards, Blake Parker, Troy Thomson and Jack Murray played great golf, while raising nearly $10,000 for cancer research.
This amount puts the Parkes Golf Club in 27th place across Australia in fundraising which is a great effort for a small club.
Congratulations to those who undertook the charity endeavour and to their supporters.
Donations are still being taken on https://www.longestday.org.au/fundraisers/ParkesGolfClub and all donations over $2 are tax deductible.
To match the temperature there were some hot scores at the top of the leaderboard but none better than Alec Edwards who had a 40 point round.
He finished one better than Jack Murray who has been in form over the last few weeks. Peter Magill and Nym Dziuba were a further stroke back.
The Nearest The Pins this week were - Idlerite Tyrepower 1st won by Gordon Christie at 319cm, the Griffins Leading Edge 4th by Peter Magill at 360cm, the Dirt Doctor Landscaping 6th by Peter Boschman at 160cm, the Parkes Readymixed Concrete 9th by Phil Bishop at 286cm, the Harvey Norman 11th by Alec Edwards at 92cm, the Westlime 15th by David Stevenson at 450cm and the Central West Glass 18th by Aaron Wilkie at 92cm.
So that meant that Peter Boschman won the lucrative 6th hole this week.
Ball winners were - Peter Magill, Nym Dziuba 38, Jarrod Kemp, Warren Blatch 37, Bill Warren 36, Peter Boschman, Mick Smith, Michael Dumesny 35, Cody Hando.
On a day where the big hitters were using the 40kmh tailwind to their advantage Anthony Lock managed to pick up the eagle - well done.
Next week is the December Scott and Kath Mann Monthly Medal with the daily sponsor Kitson Manufacturing Service and it is a medley event.
