A number of local trainers, drivers and horses are engaged for Sunday's races, though the locals will face stiff opposition from a number of Bathurst and Riverina stars who will be looking to spoil the party.
Kicking things off at will be the TAB Odds & Evens Pace, where Young trainer/driver Todd Day will be looking to capitalise on the strong recent form of Clowns Tothe Left, with the filly recording two second placings in four starts. She will face stiff opposition in the form of Two Five Eight, who lost by a lip here on July 5, and has been knocking down the door of late to record win number one.
Bathurst trainer Mat Rue will be hoping Valenteeno can produce another strong performance on the Parkes track in the Ohoka Punter Pace after the gelding couldn't quite hold on against the fast finishing Mister Mysterious on July 5.
The Col Fletcher Ford Pace will be a very open affair over the 2040 metres while the Parkes Furniture One Pace will be hotly contested, with a number of local runners and last start winners engaged. Bell River Boy was mighty impressive at the last Parkes meeting, holding off the well-fancied local Preacher Quince, and the talented gelding is starting to build a nice block of form.
The Furniture One Pace will also feature You Look Well, who gave young Parkes driver Laura Rusten another winner for her father Darryle on July 5 at some nice odds; however this race will be quite a step up for the nine-year-old gelding.
Lou Cee will start one of the favourites in the Telescope Tyres Pace for local trainer Andrew Cassell while Alectown's trainer/driver father and son duo, Stan and Nathan Townsend will look to Cloudin Up in the Parkes Leagues Club Pace to capitalise on his win at Dubbo last start.
The final two races for the day will include horses with National Ranking Points up to 65 and 80 respectively, with strong fields assembled for both the Garrards Ironhorse Series Pace and the Egmont Park Stud Pace.
Gabbys Sportstar has placed in each of his last four runs and the four-year-old gelding will start from the pegs in the first row in the last race of the day, which is shaping up to be a entertaining way to finish the day.
The first race on Sunday afternoon, the TAB Odds & Evens Pace, will start at 12.45pm with the last event on the card taking place at 4.42pm. Keep an eye out for the full wrap-up in Tuesday's copy of the Parkes Champion Post.
