COVID-19 has wrought havoc on the training regime of every sport in Parkes, but the strong and inclusive culture at the Boars has the club primed to improve on last year's results.
Four players will be making their first grade debuts: Marc Coombs (scrum-half), Luke Bevan (fly-half), Curtis David (centres) and Connor Farrer (openside-flanker); with more players potentially debuting from the bench.
Player/coach Josh Miles was full of enthusiasm at training on Tuesday evening, with the amiable, hard working atmosphere at the club giving the club every opportunity to put their best feet forward.
"We have pretty much the same squad as last year on paper but I think the boys have bought in a lot better and are enjoying the environment provided and a little bit of structure should help us a lot to push against the well drilled sides," said Miles.
The Boars are expecting to play plenty of running rugby in a bid to incorporate the new players as swiftly as possible, though Miles said he was expecting a brutal contest this weekend.
"It will be a very physical game and hopefully we can compete with Mudgee.
"I believe we conceded two big scores against them last year so I'm unsure what to expect personally," said Miles.

A few young players will be making their club debut in second grade with a few experienced players leading them around the park.
The ladies side will be led by captain Caitlin Westcott and vice-captain Natasha Hamilton, and fielding a women's side is a huge coup for the town, giving the next generation of female stars something to aim for.
The ladies will kick off proceedings on Pioneer Oval at 12.45pm, with second grade following at 1.55pm. The first graders will bring things home at 3.15pm, before the players head to the Coachman Hotel Motel to wind down and thank supporters and sponsors.
