HOLIDAY CAMP: Usually the school holidays means a hiatus from organised tennis but last week the three day junior tennis camp provided a great opportunity for girls and boys from across the region to enjoy more time on court. Each morning an average of 65 youngsters eagerly passed through the entrance gate to the new hand sanitising station proudly donated by Arndell Surveying then onto their allocated courts for three hours of tennis games, activities and match play. The coaching team did a fabulous job and all the juniors were kept busy and engaged so no time to think about pushing any boundaries.

Proceeds from the camp enabled a new coffee machine to be purchased and when the weather warms up the canteen will also be fitted out with a slushie machine for the community to enjoy.
JUNIOR COACHING: After the success of the holiday camp the coaching team is geared up for a huge term three commencing July 20. All previous programs from term one are now able to be offered once again which include Group squad training for Green ball and Yellow ball players on Mondays along with Group HotShots on every afternoon from 4-6pm.
The HotShots program is for four years-13 years and girls and boys come in a group of a maximum of four players for half hour once a week. The cost for the eight week program is $100 which includes a free racquet and t-shirt for all new registrations.
Private and semi private half hour lessons also provide valuable learning opportunities and are available every afternoon.
All registrations are online www.parkestennis.com.au. If you cannot find a suitable time online email Helen Magill helenmagill@bigpond.com
Term three competition: Monday evenings from July 20 will see adult competitions run for six weeks, social ladies doubles division and a men's singles challenge. The ladies will play three sets of doubles at 6pm while the men will play three sets of singles at 6.30pm. Entries to Helen Magill by Friday, July 17.
Tuesday afternoons will see junior competition once again in action. It will be singles only again due to the winter weather and enhanced caution to play around coughs and colds. There will be red, orange, green and yellow ball divisions on offer and comp is played between 3.45pm-6.30pm with a draw given out for the whole term. Names must be entered online by Friday, July 17. www.parkestennis.com.au - no late entries will be accepted.
All players in the yellow ball competition and the men's singles challenge were asked last comp to join www.myutr.com and set up a profile so they can have a Universal Tennis Rating in comparison with others across the World.
UTR EVENTS: Parkes Tennis hosted the second UTR event last weekend and although entries were not high, all players enjoyed their level based matches across the two days. The next UTR event will be on August 8-9 with the 9 a key date for the diaries as it will be part of the Central West Super Series of Tennis which is replacing the JDS for 2020. All players must have a UTR profile.
