Into the Woods Junior is described as a funny and engaging musical comedy - and the whole cast of 44 performers is 18 years and under.
Director Lisa Ramsey says the young cast of Parkes, Forbes and Trundle actors has been at work since November to bring this entertaining production to the stage.
About one third of the cast is completely new to theatre, and they've discovered a whole new world as they prepare for nine big shows.
"They've been welcomed in, they're part of the family now, and they've enjoyed it," Lisa said.
Into the Woods Jnr is a young performer's edition of Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's musical fairytale about wishes and the choices we make.
It takes some of our favourite brothers Grimm characters and twists their familiar fairy tales into a whole new story.
When a baker and his wife learn they've been cursed by the witch next door, they embark on a quest to break the spell - and it involves many of our most beloved characters.
"It's pretty much a pantomime so there's definitely humour," Lisa explained. "And it has some lovely messages in there too."
Into the Woods opens this Friday, March 6.
Tickets are available online at www.parkesmandd.com.au or from Parkes Regional Business Supplies.
There are shows on Friday evening, Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon this weekend, next weekend, and on the weekend commencing Friday, March 20.
The middle weekend includes an autism-friendly performance at 2pm Saturday.
This was introduced at The Little Theatre in 2019 and involves reducing sudden lighting and sound effects, as well as providing quiet spaces, so that theatre can be accessible to and enjoyed by more people.
