The annual event draws thousands of people to the community each year and Committee President, Nathan Clarke, is expecting a decent turnout for this years event. Mr Clarke said based on previous years they were hoping for more than 1000 racing enthusiasts to come out and enjoy the day at the Bedgerabong Showgrounds, “I hope as many people as possible will turn up for the centenary cup,” he said.
Mr Clarke said it was an honour to be part of a committee which had been organising events like this one for 100 years, and the dedicated committee has been working hard with the grounds starting to look good while volunteers have been tidying up after the wild storms and winds that have lashed the region over the past few months.
The Picnic Races are a great family day out and Mr Clarke said they are trying to encourage a picnic atmosphere around the marquees and urge people to use the area, “I want to encourage everyone to come out for a great day, help us and the Bedgerabong community celebrate 100 years of racing”.

This year’s event will again be a six-race meeting kicking off with the 1100m Class 3 Handicap while the highlight will be Race 5, the 1400m Bedgerabong Picnic Race Club Cup which was won last year by Lulu’s Destiny ridden by Maddison Wright and trained by Rodney Robb.
While the stakes will be high on the track, off the track the fashion stakes have never been higher with the following Fashions on the Field titles at stake:

This year, the committee has added a second bar near the marquees and there will also be live entertainment with Victorian band, The Mason Boys, ready to perform a range of music. Other entertainment will include a free jumping castle for the kids, memorabilia auctions and raffles and the always popular foot races.
A great selection of caterers will ensure there is plenty of food and drinks available, while the TAB van and bookmakers on site will be ready to help those looking to back a winner, however there are no ATM/ EFTPOS facilities at the track so make sure you have cash on the day.
Tickets to the races are $20 for adults, with children under 15 free. Gates open at 10am with buses running to and from Forbes on the day. The committee would like to thank all the volunteers and sponsors for helping making the day possible and look forward to seeing a great crowd on the day.
