Parkes Meals on Wheels is in urgent need of a cold storage vehicle to help keep its wheels in motion to deliver more than 15,000 meals per year across the Parkes Shire.

So the organisation has decided to host a fundraising dinner auction on Friday, August 31, where all funds raised will go towards purchasing the vehicle.
The event will take place at the Parkes Services Club at 7pm.
Parkes Shire Food Service Inc helps make up Meals on Wheels’ 76,000-strong volunteer network, which is spread across 600 grass roots organisations in the country that have nourished their local communities for 65 years.
Chairperson of Parkes Meals on Wheels Adrienne Bradley said they are fortunate enough to have more than 230 dedicated volunteers as part of their team, who ensure their service delivers more than just a meal to clients.
“Our amazing and inspiring volunteers are the backbone of Meals on Wheels,” she said.
“They form part of a caring community that is one of the most gratifying volunteer programs in the world.
“Because of this, Parkes Meals on Wheels will be holding a dinner auction to raise much needed funds to purchase a cold storage vehicle and other essential needs to keep our clients in their own homes for longer.”
There will be a great range of items up for auction on the night including – golfers paradise for four in the Hunter Valley (two nights and three days midweek); private discover sailing day package for eight on Sydney Harbour; overnight cruise for two on Sydney Harbour; Tesla roaster experience; helicopter ride in the Hunter Valley for two; Ultimate Wine Lovers adventure for eight guests; your own private resort in Hunter Valley for a long weekend; experience the true Majesty of the Hydro Majestic Hotel; Australia Moto GP (Melbourne) 2018 for two and an NRL grand final.
The dinner will include a two-course meal and mystery front door prize.
Cost is $35 per person and tickets are available for purchase from the Meals on Wheels office at 78 Clarinda Street, Parkes.

Parkes Meals on Wheels employs four staff, has 230 volunteers and provides a meals service for 98 people. It has also been serving the Parkes Shire for 55 years.
