Ellen Dolbel and Lily McCormick made top eight for the 10 and under girls division, while Parkes girls dominated the top eight in the 12s. The seven qualifiers included Holly McColl, Abbey Kennedy, Harriet Peters, Maddy McCormick, Olivia Dolbel, Molly Kennedy and Charlie Strudwick.
Thomas Girle was the only qualifier in the 12 and under boys division this year.
Georgia Sideris and Makayla Strudwick lined up in the 14s girls, while Ben Evans had his game face on in the 14s boys division. Brenden Weekes made the 18s ,as did 14-year-old Jake Magill.
The top four in each age division qualified for the state finals to be played in Western Sydney in November.
Ellen Dolbel, Abbey Kennedy, Holly McColl, Harriet Peters, Ben Evans, Jake Magill and Brenden Weekes all qualified.
Abbey Kennedy had a standout day in the 12 and under girls dropping only four games over the seven she played. Abbey has had a great year and worked extremely hard on developing her game, in particular her tactical decisions. This proved the difference on Sunday and showed on court as she displayed a determined attitude from start to finish.
Holly McColl has also had a very busy couple of weeks travelling for athletics and her tennis probably suffered a little as she looked flat on Sunday. She tried her best and did well to stave off her opponents to finish runner-up.
Jake Magill is working on adjusting his service action moving forward and although he had a slow start to the day he finished well to take the 18 and under boys title.
Ben Evans was voted players player by the Parkes contingent after causing a couple of upsets in the solid 14s field to finish a very well deserved runner-up. This age division had about 12 boys who could make the top 8 leading up to the last tournament and Ben left it until the final event on his home courts to add enough points to his total to qualify. His opponents may have underestimated his skill.
