A small group of friends joined the birthday girl and there were smiles all round as they wished her well.
It may not be that well known but Mavis was actually Australia’s first freshwatet fishing champion!
She was born in Singleton and had three children. She has been a resident of Parkes since 1980.
Mavis is also remembered as a long time employee of Woolworthers, working 25 years as a butcher.
She used to enjoy her indoor bowls but now its bingo.
