Trained in Alectown by veteran horseman Stan Townsend, the five-year-old Art Major gelding is
Sometimes though, he trots out of the float and decides it's time to do his best impression of Denzel Washington's Alonzo Harris in Training Day and turn all bad cop.
Fortunately for Stan and son Nathan on Monday afternoon at the Parkes Harness Racing Club, he was the good cop.
An Olivia Benson, if you will.
Just like the plucky Law and Order SVU detective, the gelding ($5.50) remained patient over the 2040 metre Cobbitty Equine Farm Pace on the pegs before finding room on the straight to finish half a length ahead of Just Won More ($5.50), with Holy Camp Paxton ($2.60f) a neck back in third.
Stan's son Nathan was in the gig for the victory, and he said after the race that it was a dream run.
"He was unlucky a couple of starts back (1.3 metre third in Parkes on September 17), but he got a great run today," he said.
"Nathan Turnbull gave me a bit of room which was nice and then Good Cop just shot through the space."
The gelding is often a little frustrating for the punters and bookies to follow.
The former will always be seduced by more generous odds than his class suggests, while the latter always keeps him safe with the knowledge that another good run may be just around the corner.

Townsend admitted he is a tough horse to trust sometimes, but was pleased with the way he has performed this preparation.
"He's a bit hit and miss, he only shows up some weeks...you just don't see him sometimes, but he was a little bit fitter this time in which helped," said Townsend.
"We gave him a let-up for about two months in the paddock, and that does seem to have done him some good."
Exciting times lay ahead for the Townsend stable's golden egg (literally, she won Menangle's Golden Easter Egg feature in April last year) Our Antonio Rose, with the Sportswriter mare who was bred by Stan, heading north of the border.
Nathan said she is looking very good this time in, and with his father laid up with a broken leg, adding to her $86.056 in prizemoney would be very welcomed by the family.
"She's having her first start this Saturday night...she had a good trial through the week and won it pretty easy so looking forward to seeing how she goes," he said.
