The rainfall has caused river rises and these are expected to cause moderate flooding around Forbes - at Cottons Weir, the Iron Bridge, and Jemalong Weir - this week.
The Sunday morning State Emergency Services bulletin forecasts:
The Lachlan River at Cottons Weir is likely to exceed the moderate flood level (5.30 m) Tuesday morning and may reach 5.80 metres Wednesday morning, with moderate flooding.
The Lachlan River at Forbes Iron Bridge is likely to exceed the minor flood level (8.80 m) Monday morning and may reach the moderate flood level (9.50 m) during Tuesday.
Jemalong Weir may reach 7.60 metres from Wednesday into Friday this week, with moderate flooding.
Be prepared
At the forecast levels:
Lachlan River at Nanami - exceed Minor Sunday afternoon
Low lying areas adjacent to the river can flood. The Kangarooby Creek could encroach upon the Gooloogong - Cowra Road. The approach road to the Paytens Bridge on the Bandon-Eugowra Road may flood on the Eugowra side of the bridge.
Forbes Iron Bridge - minor Monday and moderate Tuesday
The Park on Lake Forbes floods including footpaths, low lying areas adjacent to the river can flood, multiple roads are likely to be flooded including Gooloogong Road at Dukes Crossing, Wirrinya Road at the Dog and Duck Crossing on Bundaburrah Creek, Grenfell Road (Henry Lawson Way) at Muddy Lagoon. Caravans and campers need to move away from low lying areas.
Cottons Weir - exceed Moderate Tuesday morning - A number of roads are flooded including the Forbes-Gooloogong Road (Lachlan Valley Way) at Dukes Crossing and the Forbes-Old Grenfell Road (Henry Lawson Way) at Muddy Lagoon/Bundaburrah Creek, New Grenfell Road at Bundaburrah Creek and the Escort Way - preventing access south and east between Forbes, Grenfell, Gooloogong and Eugowra.
Alternative access available via the Newell Highway. Water may be across North Condobolin Road at "Little Plains".
Jemalong Weir - May reach 7.60m from Wednesday into Friday - Farmers should move pumps and stock.
Water will be across the Bedgerabong Road at Little Plains, water will be crossing the Forbes-Condobolin Road at Jemalong Homestead.
