For Ford fanatics, the Holy Grail has always been the GT Falcon of the 1970's; so in 2014 when Ford Australia released the last of the GT's, it was always going to be a race to get your hands on one.

Rodney Barnes from the Central West Car Club was lucky enough to buy one and I recently chatted with him about it.
"It's a bit of a mouthful, but it's a 2014 FG FPV GTF 351," Rodney said.
All those letters do mean something!
FG is the model, FPV is 'Ford Performance Vehicles', GTF is 'Grand Tourer Final' and 351 (the engine capacity of the iconic GT from the 1970's) is the power output in first gear, although figures suggest a maximum of over 400kW.
Rodney was lucky to secure himself one of the them, because just 500 were ever made.
"We bought it new in 2014 straight off the catalogue and it wasn't an easy get either.
"They only built 500 of these and all the dealers had lists of people wanting one.
"I was on a list of 34 people wanting six cars, and by fate I got one," said Rodney.
Rodney's car is number 394 of 500 built, and with a supercharged 5.0 litre V8 under that bonnet bulge, it has a 6-speed manual gearbox and 'R' spec suspension and brakes.
There's a full leather interior, 19 inch rims and the colour is octane.
Being the last of Ford's GT's was always going to make this car collectable and it's also rated as Ford Australia's most powerful GT ever so its no wonder Rodney snapped it up, but what is surprising is that Rodney said he has not always been a 'Ford man'.
"I've been into Holdens really, but since my first XR8 Falcon in the early 1990's I've had, I think, five XR8's and three XR6 utes so the Ford bug has certainly got me," he said.
For further proof of his allegiance to both makes and for any car enthusiasts who are interested, Rodney and his wife Jennie recently featured on the Classic Resto's program online with a few of their other cars.
To find it, just google 'Sandman Heaven' and while you're there check out some our other CWCC members at 'Classic Cars and McFeeters Motor Museum NSW: Classic Restos'.
