Never has such a short sentence summed up a game of rugby league, with the Parkes Spacemen going down to the Nyngan Tigers 54-40 in a high scoring game on Sunday afternoon in Parkes.

Parkes went 100 metres in the first 100 seconds of the game to open the scoring, and from there the game was a complete try fest.

By half time the score was 28-26 in favour of the Spacemen - and it didn't slow down much in the second half, with another 40 points scored.

Jak Jeffery scored a hattrick, while both Sam Simmons and Ash Widders got doubles for Nyngan, while the Spacemen had seven individual try scorers.

It resembled a game of rugby 7s at time, such was the way both side's forwards marched down the field before giving the ball to their back lines, who were finding space with ease.

For Spacemen coach Brent Wood, it was disappointing for the side to go down despite scoring a mountain of points.

"It was disappointing to put in that type of performance, if you score 40 points you shouldn't be on the losing side," he said.

"We have a fair bit of work to do on our defense if we want to be there at finals time."

The Parkes forwards made good metres in attack, but couldn't contain the Tigers in defence - with Nyngan making Parkes look slow at times, such was the speed of their ball movement and agility on the edge.

Bailey Hartwig and Jordan Pope certainly led the way for the forwards while Jack Creith was prominent as always, but the longer the game wore on the Tigers juggernaut found it too easy to penetrate down both sidelines.

Widders, Jeffery and Simmons finished sets off with ruthless precision for the Tigers, while half back Josh Merritt led his side around with aplomb.

Nyngan committee member and league tag coach Alistair Quarmby was stoked for the side to get its first win of the season.

"Defence wasn't really a priority was it, so it was all about who could keep possession for the majority of the time," he said after the game, with a rather wide smile on his face.

"One team would skip away, then the other team would respond but in second half Josh Merritt took a bit more control in attack and I think that really helped us.

"Jacob Neill and Adrian Spicer were tireless and only came off right at the end of the game, while Ash Widders was just a joy to watch on the wing," Quarmby said.

Next weekend the Spacemen will travel to Dubbo to take on Macquarie while Nyngan will host the Wellington Cowboys.
