SHARON Jeffries returned to Parkes $6000 richer on Saturday after talented four-year-old mare Bella Chica finally broke her maiden in start 21 at Warren.

The mare, who joined the Jeffries stable nine starts back in August 2020, was smashed in betting last start in Wellington and disappointed the punters; but bounced back to get the chocolates at $13 with hoop Jake Pracey-Holmes aboard.
Jeffries had been confident in her mare after she looked good during an 18 week spell, and was thrilled to get the win in a nine horse field.
"Very happy that she has finally put it together after having a good spell," she said.
"She was working so well leading up to her first-up run at Wellington, where the stable was very confident she could win, but after being slow away she was disappointing.
"This time at Warren she jumped straight to the front and blew them away," said Jeffries.

Out wide from Barrier 9, Pracey-Holmes fought off three horses to secure the lead, and from there she never looked like getting beaten.
The bookies favourite, Queen Dee ($2.25f), sat three lengths behind Bella Chica, with the pair opening up seven lengths on the rest of the field.
As soon as the mare found the straight however, Pracey-Holmes booted clear in a comfortable three length-victory with Just Lose It ($19) flashing home to beat out Queen Dee for second in a photo.
It was as painless a watch as any trainer, or punter, can hope to have, and it was a peach by Pracey-Holmes to net such a comfortable victory at the double-figure quote.
Bella Chica, by Sizzling from Balmoral Baby, had no problems with the outside gate, and with the 1200m win coming in 1:12.37, there is no doubt she can improve and continue to prove herself a plucky bush horse.
Saturday's meeting marked 50 years since racing stalwart and all-round good guy Col Hodges called his first full race meeting.
He was in action at Warren on Saturday afternoon as per usual, where the third race was named in his honour, a very deserved honour for someone who knows more about racing in the Central West than probably anyone else currently involved in the industry.
