For the men, it was a welcome return to top level hockey action after the men's league took a hiatus in 2021.
Both Parkes and St Pat's looked very evenly matched after a hectic start to the game, and the young Parkes forwards were looking super fit, fast and skilful.
It was Parkes who struck first one minute into the second quarter through Andrew Burke, who took advantage of some aggressive and direct passing.
St Pat's drew the ledger after a penalty corner halfway through the third term and eventually ran away with the game 3-1 after two last quarter goals against a tiring, but competitive, Parkes unit.

A missed penalty stroke just five minutes into the game would come to haunt the young Parkes side, though goalkeeper Gracie Denham-Jones was close to the best player on the park with a number of crucial saves.
Jemma Luele put CYMS ahead after multiple repeat penalty corners in the second term, and despite some desperate forward play in the last quarter Parkes couldn't reel in the deficit.
