Ricky joined the Central West Car Club (CWCC) as an individual member in 2014 after a number of years of family membership with his parents.
We featured his Monaro in 2015 when Ricky was still on his 'P' plates.
Back then he'd just painted it in its current Aqua Marine colour and he told us of plans to one day update from the six cylinder engine to a V8.
True to his word Ricky has transformed his mild CV6 into something with a whole lot more punch.
“There was a lot more to it than just an engine swap,” Ricky said.
“I tubbed the rear end for the modified suspension so I could get some bigger wheels under the back, relocated the battery and fitted a fuel cell.”
The Monaro now sits on 20 inch Pro Drag wheels with eight inch wide up front and ten inch at the rear.
“The engine is a 5.7 litre LS1 from a VT Commodore SS.
“We've done a bit of work to it and put a Built auto with a 3500 stall converter behind it and a limited slip diff to keep the power to the ground,” Ricky said.
“The plan is to do everything with this car - shows, burnouts, drags and anything else on offer.”
Ricky has proudly done all the work himself with some help along the way with the tuning.
He's already got the Monaro entered for Summernats 2019 in Canberra at the beginning of January so for anybody heading there, keep an eye out for his car and give him your support.
On the local scene Ricky has been behind the recently set up Parkes Street Meet with the support of the CWCC.
The Street Meet occurs on the second Friday of each month from 6:30pm - 9pm at the outdoor Coles carpark in Clarinda St in Parkes and its a chance for car enthusiasts to get together with their vehicles.
“We're happy to have people turn up with cars, bikes, trucks - whatever,” Ricky said “and its an open invitation to anybody - you don't need to be a club member.”
There's a strict 'no hooning' policy to keep things under control. It's all about getting cars out of sheds and putting like minded people in touch with each other to share their enthusiasm.
The next Parkes Street Meet is set for this Friday, night December 14 at 6:30 so keep your eye on Facebook for more details and come along.
January 2019: Zip, this month is a break for the club, meetings and outings. Except for the Elvis festival.
February 2019: Wednesday, February 6 will be the CWCC meeting from 7.30pm at Parkes Leagues club.
