Chris Cornelissen from Bogan Gate has had visions of building a truck like this for 20 years or more, long before the rat truck scene became popular.

He’s finally achieving his goal with this 1952 International AR 110.
The body on the truck is International but it now sits on a 1974 HJ Holden ute chassis.
Chris chose the ute chassis over and above the otherwise popular one tonner to provide a shorter wheelbase.
“It’s all Holden running gear with a 202 6 cylinder motor, 4 speed gearbox, Commodore disc brakes all round and a Commodore diff,” Chris said.
“The engine has a mild cam, extractors and a 350 Holley carb for now, but a mate of mine, Andre, is trying to convince me to put a 454 Chev V8 in it one day!”
It’s rolling on a set of 15 inch Commodore alloy wheels at the moment but Chris has plans for a set of old school 14 x 10 inch kidney bean mags for a deeper dish and to give the truck a little lower stance.
“It was originally number 46 Condobolin Shire Council truck and I came across it just up the road from me in Bogan Gate,” he said.
Chris has had help from his mate Andre Johnson to do the welding but otherwise has done most of the work himself.
“It’s been painted Indian Red and I scuffed it back with steel wool to give the dulled off finish I was after,” he said.
“It’s been quite an easy conversion so far and there’s not much more to be done to have it registered.”
Chris plans to drive the truck regularly once he’s got it on the road. He’s a member of the Central West Car Club which welcomes members and guests to their regular meetings on the first Wednesday of each month at Parkes Leagues Club.
Meetings are held the first Wednesday of the month at the Leagues Club at 7:30pm. Feel free to join us at 6:30pm to 7pm for a social dinner before the meeting.
The Central West Car Club was formed in 1954 following a meeting of people from all walks of life who shared a common interest in racing high powered vehicles. Visit www.centralwestcarclub.com
