London: Rolf Harris has been denied permission to appeal his indecent assault convictions. The 84 year-old entertainer was jailed in July after being found guilty of 12 indecent assaults against four girls, aged between eight and 15. He was sentenced to five years and nine months jail, and under UK law would likely be released on parole after serving half that time in jail. The UK courts confirmed to Fairfax Media that Harris' application to appeal his conviction was refused last week, after a Court of Appeal judge reviewed written submissions from his legal team. However he still has a chance at an appeal – he can apply for a hearing to reconsider the application.
