Grenfell ready for Jones Horne Shield

This Sunday at Eugowra the First Grade teams will battle it out for the Donna Jones and Marilyn Horne Shield.

Both theses ladies lost their battle with cancer and this is a day where we remember them and acknowledge the effects of cancer on women and their families.

Youth League kicks off at 11.20am followed by League tag at 12.40pm and First Grade at 2.00pm.

Last weekend all three grades had a bye but on Sunday the 29 June the Goannas hosted Blayney in Youth League and League Tag and following are the match reports.

YOUTH LEAGUE

Blayney showed why they are one of the favourites to take out the Woodbridge Cup Youth League competition this year when they defeated the young Goannas 60 nil after leading 38 nil at half-time.

For Grenfell Braydon Hyland picked up the Player’s Player and the Best & Fairest points to continue his run of good form. Other players to try hard for Grenfell were Jaryd Mills, Angus Buckland, Tyson Lehay, and Mav Mooney.

LEAGUE TAG

The Girlannas had a big 62-6 win over a young and inexperienced Blayney Bears outfit after leading 28-6 at half-time.

Grenfell scored 13 tries through Zoe Gavin (4), Chelsea Harveyson (3), Sophie Hughes (2), and singles to Seanna New, Ella McRae, Emily Brenner, and Player’s Player Faith Smith.
