NATIONAL SIMULTANEOUS STORYTIME
At St Joseph’s Primary School, a love of reading is promoted from a young age and National Simultaneous Storytime was a wonderful opportunity for the students to share their love of reading with the children from the Grenfell Preschool Star Room.
National Simultaneous Storytime is held annually. Every year a picture book, written and illustrated by an Australian author and illustrator, is read simultaneously around the country. The aim is to promote the value of reading and literacy.
The children had lots of fun listening to this year's story, ‘The Truck Cat’, written by Deborah Frenkel and illustrated by Danny Snell. The older students then assisted the younger children to create their very own ‘truck cat’ to take home. It was a terrific morning.
Week Five
GRENFELL FIRE AND RESCUE VISIT
Fire safety education for children is the first line of defence against misuse of fire and fire fatalities and injuries.
Prevention through education is an effective strategy that can be used to reduce the risk of fire to children.
Recently, all St Joseph’s Primary School students were treated to a visit from the local Fire and Rescue team.
They were provided with information to improve their fire safety knowledge and skills and to enhance their recognition of, and trust in, firefighters.
