While it is disappointing both of our local boys will be watching from the sideline, there is an abundance of Central West talent at the club who will be trying to emerge victorious over the NRL's most hated team - the Melbourne Storm.

Dubbo product Isaah Yeo topped off a superlative year with recognition at the Dally M awards for Lock of the Year; after a season where he averaged 142 metres, 40 tackles and two tackle breaks a game.

He was one of six individuals from Penrith recognised on Monday in a special night for the club, while the awards ceremony was also noteworthy for the Western Rams region.

Orange and Wiradjuri man Jack Wighton collected the Dally M after another sensational season with the Raiders while Wellington Cowboys junior Kotoni Staggs was awarded two individual gongs.

Staggs was one of the few shining lights in what was a horror year for the Brisbane Broncos and his efforts were rewarded in a big way.

Stephen Crichton, Nathan Cleary, Viliame Kikau and James Fisher Harris were the other players from the Panthers to receive spots in the Team of the Year.

Wellington junior Brent Naden, who has generated plenty of headlines since he was sensationally dropped from the starting side before the preliminary final, has been named in the centres.

As for Billy and Charlie?

It's always disappointing to miss out on one of the biggest occasions of the year, but there is plenty to be excited about for the futures of these two fine young men.

Charlie burst onto the scene with a four try debut before injury cruelled his season, but after signing a big extension with the club recently he is poised to go to the next level somewhere in the back line - potentially even at fullback.

Billy on the other hand, the blue collar second rower who hits like a mack truck, will be pushing his case for regular first grade appearances next season in the back row.

And he will always be one of the Spacemen's favourite sons.
