In Parkes, it will start at Northparkes Oval as a 5km run every Saturday morning once the COVID-19 restrictions are lifted.
Other projects receiving grants included:
Parkes Sports Council Chairperson, Alan Gersbach was delighted that more projects had been put forward for selection.
While the increased number of applications meant that not all the groups who applied received a piece of the funding pie, a diverse range of sporting pursuits were successful in this round.
Parkes Shire Mayor Cr Ken Keith OAM presided over the Selection Committee conference call and was pleased that the projects put forward were a mix of facility and participation projects in sporting or other activities.
During the presentation of the grants, Cr Louise O'Leary thanked the groups for putting forward their projects and encouraged them to use the resources of the Parkes Shire Council Grants Team.
Northparkes Managing Director, Hubert Lehman said, "At Northparkes, we are committed to the health and wellbeing of our people, as well as the community in which we live and work. We have proudly supported the Sports Grants Program in association with Parkes Shire Council for seven years now".
"Northparkes recognises how vital sport is to our local community; supporting the Sports Grants Program is one way we can contribute to some of the teams and clubs which do such a great job helping to keep Parkes Shire healthy and happy," he said.
The joint funding agreement between Northparkes and Parkes Shire Council distributed $170k in sports related funding over the last three years.
A new agreement is currently being formulated.
