Magistrate Fiona McCarron has asked a Parkes man appearing before her on a 36 kilometer above the limit speeding charge to tell her about his need for a licence.

"Because if I convict you today, you lose your licence," she said.
Alvin Charles John (25) of Nash Street, Parkes, was in Parkes Local Court on Monday, February 3, charged with Class A motor vehicle exceed speed above 30km/hr (116km/h in an 80km/hr zone) Lidar at Waterfall on September 10, 2019.
"Mr John you don't have a very good traffic record in relation to speeding do you?" Magistrate McCarron said.
John represented himself and pleaded guilty.
He told Magistrate McCarron he was overtaking a vehicle on an overtaking lane as the speed limit changed to 80 kilometres an hour.
He then asked Magistrate McCarron if it was possible to start his disqualification period on March 1.
"I do specialised custom wheelchairs for disabled clients," he said.
"Some of the clients I deal with are quite complex and I just have a couple of clients in Wollongong and one in Newcastle that would be very difficult for someone else to do in my place," he said.
"That is my only request."
Magistrate McCarron told John that she would have been able to backdate the disqualification period of his licence if it was taken at the time of the offence.
"As it wasn't, I don't have the power to do so," she said.
"All I can do for you Mr John is give you the minimum disqualification period."
Magistrate McCarron fined John $500 and disqualified him from driving for three months.
