Keith Fiedler and Jan Freeman won the game on Tuesday, September 17 with a score of 62.50. Second were Jenny Freeman and Isabel Orange 60.71 and third were Greig Ball and Kevin Robinson 55.36. Also gaining masterpoints in fourth place were Margaret Hawken and Joan Reilly with 51.19.

The first round of the Club Championship Fours was played this week in rainy conditions, with Jan McPhee, Kim Evans, Maree Grant, Pat Cooney def Merilyn Rodgers, Di Howell, Rosemary Mitchell, Lorraine Baker.

Marja Ifland, Valmai Westcott, Gwenda Carty, Cherie Frame def Joan Simpson, Brenda Davies, Rhona Went, Liz Byrne.

The next round will be played next week with Pat Cooney's team versus Cherie Frame's team.

At the short General Meeting it was voted that the new shirts will become our official registered club shirts once they have been officially registered. Once registered the new shirts must be worn at any District Competitions. The present shirt will be able to be worn at any Club Championship match for a period of 12 months as well as for social bowls.

The Taber Shield will be played this week 19/9 and our 'Beverages raffle" which consists of three prizes, which look fantastic, will be drawn. President Merilyn is overwhelmed with the generosity of member's donations to the raffle. Thank You.

The Jess Knight Challenge will be held at Parkes Railway on October 2 with teams from our District Competing for the trophy. Commencing with m/t 8.30a and play 9am with two games of triples to be played.

At last month's shot nine shooters attended the Deep Lead shooting complex. They shot in a 80 target day with two events.

Event one: Sixty targets know rise using six auto clay throwers set at various angles, speeds and heights. David Wilson and David Tanks 51 each, Adrian Hodges 49, Brian Drabsch and John Patrick 48 each. Dan Morgan 45, David Penberthy 38, Jeff Charlton 31.

Event two: Twenty targets twin rise. Brian Drabsch 18, David Tanks, John Patrick, David Wilson and Dan Morgan 16 each. Drain Hodges 15, David Penberthy 12 and Jeff Charlton 11.

Our next shoot is at 1pm Saturday, September 21 and will be similar to above.

Last weekend we saw nine shooters attend the Deep Lead shooting complex. They shot at ordinary targets at both 25 and 50 meters for a maximum of 500 points. Popeye cleaned up all the top shooters.

A bumper contingent of dragon boaters will make their way to Adelaide next month for the Australian Masters Games.

The Kombo Dragons is a group made up of six dragon boating clubs - both Pinnacle and Colour City in Orange and clubs in Parkes, Forbes, Bathurst and Mudgee - and has a mammoth 62 members making their way down to Masters in Adelaide.

Those 62 competitors will line up in 17 races across the three days from October 9-12.

The Kombo Dragons have travelled internationally, to as far as Hawaii, Venice and Hong Kong, and also to the Masters competitions over the past three years, but 2019 marks the biggest contingent of competitors the region has seen.

Dragon Boating NSW western region coordinator Deb Clarke said Saturday was the second meeting for the year, but the group was already adapting to paddling in time and with the same technique.

"Everyone's really excited, everyone's really keen to have a huge group going away," she said.

"Normally we have 30 to 35 but it's the biggest contingent of travellers."

Clarke said the group was hopeful of nabbing some medals from their 17 starts in both standard and small boats, which fit 20 and 10 paddlers respectively.

The Parkes Sports Council is calling for applications from incorporated sporting groups or educational institutions to apply for funding under the CMOC Northparkes / Parkes Shire Council Sports Grant Program.

In this round there is a total of $57,000 available for distribution to successful projects that promote participation in sport or improve sporting facilities.

CMOC Northparkes, Parkes Shire Council and the Parkes Sports Council have joined forces to provide financial assistance grants to sporting groups in the Parkes Shire.

This round is part of the current landmark three-year agreement. In total, Northparkes will provide a total of $90k, with Parkes Shire Council chipping in $80k, which brings the total to $170k for the program.

Parkes PCYC demonstrating their new gymnastics Airtrack, which was purchased using grant funding from the last round of applications.

Parkes Sports Council, in administering the grants, aims to help sporting groups to increase regular and on-going participation opportunities in sport, and to improve the sporting infrastructure they use.

Funding is split between two distinct project types:
