Under 14 Whites
Sportspower under 14 Whites had a loss on the weekend in a tough game against an aggressive Canowindra side, hungry for a spot in the finals.
The boys defence was outstanding as boys put themselves on the line to stop Canowindra.
The forwards, Alex DeLacy, Jay Arrow, Dustin James, Oliver Thomas, Joe Monk and Caleb Wirth taking hit after hit as they defended and ran the ball up. Leaving the field at the end of the game battered and bruised.
The fullback, Rhys James did an outstanding job retrieving the ball and setting play in motion as well as defending the breaks from Canowindra with Marley Moran sharing the position and playing his best game of the season.
Our centres Mac Rauchle and Brian Mendoza understood their roles, in attack they provided a threat out wide as they tried to make a break and in defence they marked their oppositions making it hard for them to score.
Our wingers, Kane Coulston and Jake Herring didn't get much opportunity to make any breaks but they did defend their wing well.
Jake Herring showed although small he knows the game not only tackling the bigger players but after taking a big kick, falling to the ground in goal to keep possession for Parkes.
Kane Coulston has become a tackling machine protecting the line. As five-eighth, Jackson Parker-Lee showed his agility running the ball, tackling to defend and kicking to change the plays. Toby Cox finished the season as half-back perfectly directing plays, not only making but taking some big hits.
The interchange players were crucial in this game, Yasir Mohammed, Ashton Roach, Dean Robinson and Jack Milne.
These players allowed the run-on side to catch their breath, receive first aid and chat with the coach as they covered field positions ensuring minimal change to the team plays.
Unfortunately for the boys the two tries scored by Caleb Wirth and Jay Arrow, with successful conversion by Marley Moran, they went down 28-12 finishing their season in sixth place.
Many thanks to the coaches and players for a great season and our sponsors for making it all possible.
