The local Anglicans will be running an Alpha course which will help people find out answers to questions about the basis of the Christian faith.
The course will be held from Thursday, January 31 and will conclude on Thursday, April 11.
It will also involve a light supper each night.
The night will commence at 7pm in the St George’s Church Hall and will conclude around 9pm.
The course consists of videos and group discussions about the issues raised.
Attendees will discuss the questions together in a small group.
For those who are wanting to know more about life, God, Jesus and the Bible, this is a perfect opportunity.
The video presentation features people in many different walks of life, answering questions that we have all had at some stage.
The first question sets the stage – “Is there more to life than this?”
Even in our current world where information is ‘Google-able’ within seconds, people are finding they know less and are uncertain about many more things than was previously the case.
Australian social researcher Hugh Mackay in his book ‘What makes us tick? Ten desires that drive us’ highlights finding our place in the world, knowing how we fit in with others, and finding something to believe as important desires for us in our lives.
The Alpha course hopes to assist in this enlightenment process.
The course is free and is open for anyone and everyone to attend.
The only obligation is to turn up, listen and discuss with an open mind to different ideas.
And the food will be pretty good too!
