Eight very talented young leaders have taken the step to lead their school and are keen and enthusiastic to make a difference in leadership positions.
Captains for 2019 are Becky Wright (daughter of Tanya and Tony Wright) and Ethan Pay (son of Aleta and Adam Pay), Vice Captains are Phoebe Potts (daughter of Diane and David Potts) and Angus Mill (son of Danielle and Brady Mill), while the 2018 Prefects are Vivian Tosetti (daughter of Kylie and Patrick Tosetti), Madison Bland (daughter of Sonia and Craig Bland), Thomas Stechly-Petrikas (son of Fiona Hayward and David Petrikas) and Trefor Robinson (son of Carol and David Douglas).
Senior student representative Sarah McGlashan, (daughter of Jane and Mitchell McGlashan) was also presented with her blazer and badge.
Sarah was successful in representing her Special Education peers and was very excited about the announcement of her upcoming position.
The incoming senior leadership team were presented with their blazers and badges by the 2018 school leaders, this was followed by outgoing captains Emeline Lavaka and Gordon Richter leading the SRC Oath.
As part of their leadership role the students will attend a senior leadership course in Canberra.
There the students will participate in a number of sessions including school expectations, school pride and leadership skills, and public speaking essentials.
The senior leadership team will also lead the annual Parkes High SRC leadership day in Orange early next year.

Becky Wright
What subjects are you studying?
English, Advanced Maths, Chemistry, Biology, Agriculture and PDHPE.
What are you career aspirations?
I have a few ideas in mind as a career, like a nutritionist / dietitian for people or animals, midwifery, social worker or agronomist. I love helping people and watching people succeed. I’d love any of these jobs along with my own little property with a few sheep and cattle and grow some cereal crops.
What’s great about Parkes High School?
I love Parkes High! Its a great little community and its not too big or too small, just perfect. I love the relationship between the students and teachers and how we all work together.
What do you want to achieve as Captain?
As captain for 2019, I just want everyone to be happy and enjoy their schooling, with plenty of memories and friends made. I’d like to continue to keep this school a happy and enjoyable place. I will endeavour to be a great role model and ambassador for Parkes High School.
Ethan Pay
What subjects are you studying?
English, Maths, Extension Maths, Physics, Engineering Studies, Industrial Technology Metal.
What are you career aspirations?
I would like to become an automotive or mechanical engineer and work for a major car manufacturer. My fall back is a full time race car driver!
What’s great about Parkes High School?
The amount of opportunities there are for the students and school community to get involved together.
What do you want to achieve as Captain?
I’d love to increase the wellbeing of students at PHS and improve the students attitude towards education and participation, after all children spend a lot of time at school. I really want to help create an atmosphere where we can learn and enjoy our educational journey as much as we can.
