This year’s run is going high tech with the Rural Fire Service using its Facebook page to help locals keep track of where he is over the three nights.
The brigade will have two tankers with Santa covering the streets around Parkes.
This will allow brigade members to cover as much of the town as possible.
The idea of listing the streets with designated stopping points, makes it safer for families to reach a certain area.
The aim of the Santa run is to give back to the community, and bring Christmas cheer to the children of Parkes.
Each tanker will have a Santa and fire fighters will be helping Santa to hand out lolly bags to children.
To follow Santa and his helpers, please like the Brigade’s Facebook page Parkes Headquarters Rural Fire Brigade.
There will be a live tracking app up on the page Tuesday evening starting when we leave the station, you will be able to follow Santa’s every move and see when he will be near your street.
Remember there will be designated stopping areas.
These will also be listed on the page.
The Brigade’s Facebook page will have all the information for you to follow Santa’s progress through the streets of Parkes.
Please remember Brigade members are volunteers and are giving up their time to bring happiness and Christmas spirit to the children of Parkes.
They will try their best to make this event successful and smooth running.
Captain Scott Baker would like to remind everyone that summer is now on us and now is the time to make sure your bush fire survival plan is complete and ready.
Remember “Fire has a plan, Do you?”
Fire permits are now required.
If you see a fire that is unattended please call 000.
