With the Matildas performing at world class level recently in their domination of Brazil, and the Socceroos playing off for a World Cup spot, the future of Australian soccer is firmly in the spotlight.

The Parkes youngsters, Ruby Smith, Jack Pinkstone, Quinn Hennock, Pascal Berry, Maisy Osborne and Gracie Osborne will be playing in the NSW State Outdoor Championships from September 25–29 at Mudgee Stadium against nine other teams from Northern NSW, Metropolitan Sydney, South Coast, Southern NSW and Riverina, and then the NSW State Indoor Futsal Championships on October 1 and 2 in Sydney. 

They have been training three nights per week to prepare for games against the very best indoor and outdoor teams from across NSW.

In addition to local Parkes kids, a number of players from Forbes and Young who train at the Forbes and Young Development Centre for Western NSW Football have also been selected.

Western NSW U/12 Girls, Football NSW State and National Coach, Doug McKenzie said the players have trained well and developed during the year playing in various gala days.

“They are always coming to training and are strongly supported by their parents - one doesn’t come without the other,” Mr McKenzie said. 

“So a big thanks to the parents for being prepared to transport and fund the kid’s opportunities to play at elite levels against some of the best soccer players in Australia.”
