Clare Dunne, Elaine Charlton and Ruth Schneider were all “badged” with their Ten Year pins during our July meeting.
Congratulations, Ladies, and “Thank you” for all your work with VIEW Club!
We welcome any woman who would like to join us for a fun social time, plus activities that will raise money to support our four Smith Family “Learning for Life” schoolchildren.
At a recent meeting, Sandra Milling was our Guest Speaker.
She spoke of the various types, causes, and treatments of arthritis.
We all found this to be very informative and helpful in thinking about our health.
At our July meeting, we had Brenda Hurst as a Guest Speaker.
She spoke of those health issues that are challenging for women across our life-span.
Brenda is the area’s Women’s Health Nurse, and spends 50 per cent of her time speaking to groups like ours, and the other 50 per cent of her time organising Women’s Health Clinics.
Her area includes not only Parkes, but also Forbes, plus places like Peak Hill.
As Brenda pointed out, the Breast Screening Van is in Parkes this month, so that women aged 50 to 74 can have free mammograms.
Other free health checks that are performed by the Women’s Health Nurse includes pregnancy testing, contraception advice, domestic violence, pap tests, personal development programs, and healthy aging, amongst some available programs.
As one of the hand-out sheets stated, “Women’s Health Service – Working together with Women for best health choices”.
(The Women’s Health Coordinator can be contacted on 02 6841 2222 for more detailed information on these topics, and support or advice on many women’s health issues.)
If anyone desires more information on this general topic, the Women’s Health Coordinator will be of assistance.
At this time of year, the Club usually holds a Luncheon and Sweets day.
However, this year, we are unable to do so, do to circumstances beyond our control.
We look forward to holding our Trivia Night next month.
More information will be given as to venue, date and time in the Champion Post.
Our contact person for booking in to one of our meetings is Secretary Pamela, on 6863 4552.
We all are looking forward to our birthday in September, with the theme of Buttons and Bows.
