And come Wednesday, May 24 at 11am, Parkes Library will join in the rhyme with other organisations from Darwin to Hounville.

It’s the annual National Simultaneous Storytime and this year participants will be reading the picture book, The Cow Tripped Over the Moon.

Every year a picture book, written and illustrated by an Australian author and illustrator is read simultaneously in libraries, schools, pre-schools, childcare centres, family homes, bookshops and many other places around the country.

"National Simultaneous Storytime promotes the value of reading and literacy, promotes the fun of books and celebrates an Australian writer and publisher"  library manager Shellie Buckle said.

The event is organised by the Australian Library and Information Association.

The Cow Tripped Over the Moon is written by Tony Wilson and illustrated by Laura Wood.

Parkes Library Players chief director Sandie Ward has been preparing for the library's Simultaneous Storytime performance for weeks.

With a script already written and rehearsals done and dusted, the Library team is hoping this will be their best performance yet!

Mums, dads, carers and children are all invited.
