Nine Northparkes employees spent an afternoon at Vinnies helping sort a backlog of donations. 

The workers helped categorise donations, hang clothing and prepare toys for sale.  

The work was part of the Northparkes Volunteer Leave Program, which has delivered over 1000 hours of volunteer labour to the Central West each year since its inception.

St Vincent de Paul Society, Wilcannia Forbes Central Council Retail Manager Rhonda Keane said “Our volunteers at the  Vinnies Centre, Parkes, are very grateful for the generosity and assistance the Northparkes Volunteer Leave Program has provided them for many years now, and hope that this partnership continues for many more years to come. 

It is a prime example of two great organisations working together to deliver an invaluable service to the community of Parkes.  We thank Northparkes Mines immensely for including Vinnies in their program’. 

Specialist Community and External Relations Justine Fisher said “We were pleased to be able to assist Vinnies at a very busy time of year.

Our volunteers particularly enjoyed working alongside Vinnies volunteers and learning about the process they go through each day to manage incoming donations.”

The volunteers from Northparkes were Jack Medlyn, Fiona Wray, Andrea Thorpe, Kerrod Griffiths, Todd Redfern, Ian Smith, Andrew Neems, Stacey Kelly and Elysha Loiterton
