Belying their fifth position with only one previous win this season, the Rabbitohs came to play and deserved to claim the points.
Westside scored six tries to three and were never seriously threatened after leading 16-6 at oranges.
That lead blew out to an imposing 34-6 before late tries to Jason Bowd and Ricky Newham made the final score more respectable.
Parkes led only once, when perennial and ageless flankman Lionel Lovett sped over in the 11th minute for a 6-4 lead.
Despite plenty of ball, the Spacemen were unable to trouble a well organised and disciplined Westside defence.
Two more tries edged Westside to comparative safety at 16-6 before three converted tries put the issue beyond doubt.
Fullback Darcy James again impressed, especially in defence, while Bowd and in-form Matt Clarke impressed up front, together with Cain Henry who later enjoyed plenty of time in open company.
Veteran centre Jeremy Clarke is back on deck for the must win game with Narromine this Sunday and will be welcomed with open arms for his experience and versatility.
WESTSIDE 43 (K. Knight 2, C. McKellar, R. Wilson, T. Fuller tries; M. Hill 4, C. McKellar goals) defeated PARKES 18 (J. Bowd, L. Lovett, R. Newham tries; C. Henry 2, B.J. Francis goals). Referee, Scott Burns.
